The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies will host its fourth annual Conference on Historical Studies from April 21-23, 2017 in Beirut, Lebanon. The meeting will focus on four hundred years of history, marked by either end by pivotal events, which shaped Arab national consciousness. "The Arabs, from Marj Dabiq to Sykes-Picot: the Transition from Sultanates to National States" will examine how military invasions, and political machinations, by foreign actors led, however inadvertently, to the rise of Arab national consciousness.
For authors interested in participating in the meeting, the deadline for submission of drafts/proposals is August, 2016. Further details of the event in English are forthcoming.
